Meet the artist Mandy Saade

Meet Mandy Saade, the artist behind Dream 1: Swedish Sirens.
“Chaos is my creative world,” says British artist and designer Mandy Saade. “But the veins that always run through it are nature and light.”
For Dream 1: Swedish Sirens, The Sleep Estate’s first artist collaboration, Mandy created a world somewhere between reality and a dream. Sensual, surreal and a little strange. Never too pretty. Never too ugly.
Originally from the UK, Mandy has called Sweden home for the past 15 years, after being headhunted by H&M Trend. Since then, she has worked with names including Rodebjer and & Other Stories, while continuing to develop her own distinctive visual world. Her references move freely between art and fashion - from Georgia O’Keeffe and Lucian Freud to Dries Van Noten and the late Alexander McQueen.
“There isn’t really a message. There is a feeling.”
And feeling is at the heart of Dream 1: Swedish Sirens. Mandy was drawn to the idea of bringing something more sensual and dreamlike to a place where she felt it was missing: the bed. The print has the gentle, floating quality of swimmers suspended somewhere between wakefulness and sleep.
“A bed is different. It’s the center point of someone’s bedroom. It’s almost like putting a giant painting on the bed.”
Mandy is also a vivid dreamer herself. For a period, she wrote down her dreams every morning. She still has crazy dreams almost every night - including one particularly memorable dream in which Robbie Williams carried her to the top of the Eiffel Tower.
With Dream 1: Swedish Sirens, a little of that strange and beautiful inner world has made its way onto the bed.
“I hope people feel excited to have something different in their bedroom.”
