Pillow Talk with Linda Rodin, beauty entrepreneur and model, and author of the recently self-published Almost an Autobiography: Her Life in Photos. New York City.
What is the first thing you do when you wake up?
I walk my dog, then I buy a croissant at the corner bakery, and then I go home and make coffee in my little Italian Bialetti moka express coffee pot. Then it's back to bed to read the New York Times , and have my breakfast. Quite a ritual I've had for many years.
Morning person or night owl?
Definitely not a night owl. I can count on one hand the times I've stayed up past 11 pm. I need a lot of sleep so I was never much of a party girl.
What is your ultimate bedtime luxury?
Watching a wonderful movie with my doggie beside me and then when I'm sleepy, shutting off the light!
What does your bed say about you?
That I love to be comfortable. I like a lot of pillows and a plush mattress with cotton sheets. My home is painted in a pale aqua so it's quite dreamy; I am a Pisces and love the ocean. I have a couch in the bedroom that I like to work from in the morning.
What scent makes you think of sleep?
I love jasmine.
What is always on your bedside table?
Water, a jar of lovely hand cream, and a clock.
What do you wear to bed?
In the winter I wear cotton leggings and a long-sleeved cotton t-shirt. I live in an old New York City apartment so the heat is never quite enough ;)
In summer a light cotton knee length vintage night shirt.
What is the most beautiful bedroom you've ever slept in?
A luxurious hotel in Todos Santos Mexico. It had the most comfortable bed I had ever slept in; I felt like I was floating on air.
If you could wake up anywhere tomorrow morning, where would it be?
In a small Italian seaside town over looking the sea.
